Feeling Pretty

You know how there are just some pieces in your wardrobe that always make you feel pretty?  Well this LOFT top I bought from Extra Petite (see post here) is definitely one of them.  I think it's the pretty colours and it just makes me feel happy - and when you're happy you feel pretty, am I right?

I think this top is the perfect length and I feel quite put together whether I'm wearing it with jeans or a skirt.

I'm planning a trip to the US in June, so I hope to score some great AT and LOFT items while I'm there!

So as an update...I have decided I will be merging my blogs!  It's just getting too much for m to upkeep both, I often get confused as to which one I'm working on so for my own sanity I will be consolidating.  Thank you to EVERYONE who has given me input and has emailed me directly about it.  I am so thankful!   I don't know how long it will take me to merge the blogs, but if you follow me on twitter I have switched over to using one twitter account as well.  I will be moving all my style posts over to Toronto Beauty Reviews and will be posting from there.  I'm hoping to get everything in place by this month!  I would really, really appreciate it if you would follow me over there! :)

Velvet in the Spring Time!

Yes it's Spring! It's starting to feel like it but with Spring comes rain unfortunately.  But it's ok, I do see it arriving very soon!

I purchased this velvet blazer from the lovely Annie of Really Petite you can actually see her wearing it in this post.  Luckily for me she picked up an extra one and I was able to buy it from her. Thanks Annie!!

I know it's Spring, but I feel a little bit of fabulous when I wear this blazer so I decided to go for it anyway.

Of course, a close up of my Avon jewellery ;)
I love this necklace.  There are so many colours in it, it can be worn with so many things.  Strangers have actually stopped me to ask about it!

So what do you think?  Velvet in the spring, yay or nay? (if you say nay I'm still wearing it anyway ;) )

Blog purchase: Loft Habutai Flutter Sleeve top from Vicky

Once again my fellow petite bloggers have helped me out!  The lovely Vicky of Vicky's Daily Fashion Blog had the famous LOFT flutter tops in her hands and kindly offered to let me purchase them from her! I was so excited as this top is one I had been drooling over after seeing it on other petite bloggers:

Tiny in Texas
Petite XXS
Really Petite
Petite Little Girl
Fast Food and Fast Fashion

Here is a quick couple of photos of the two tops I got from Vicky.  (I apologize that the photos are so dark, I must have changed the camera settings without realizing it!)

New items from PAG's blog sale

I think I now LIVE for blog sales LOL!  They're so great because A) I have access to items that are not available in Canada especially petite sizes;  B) I am almost guaranteed a great fit since seeing it on my fellow petite bloggers gives me a really good idea on how it will fit me; C) I can just buy something by emailing someone and tapping on my keyboard LOL!

Here are my latest items purchased from Jean aka Petite Asian Girl of Extra Petite from her blog sale:

First up - Banana Republic Navy Chain Shift Dress in 00P:

Jean was sooo incredibly sweet to offer this top to me through a private sale as she's sick of well aware of my complaints about not being able to get  my hands on Loft items ;)

I LOVE this top so much! I don't have anything like it and I love the way it fits.

Thank again Jean - it's truly, truly appreciated :)  The blogging community and the petite blogging community in particular have been just AMAZING! I know we are essentially all strangers but I honestly feel so connected with all the ladies I've met through blogging and through twitter.  If you don't have a blog connect with me and the other ladies on twitter or on the Alterations Needed Forum.  Never have I felt such openness from an online community before - it's such a warm and fuzzy feeling! :)

Loft Wool Pants on me!

Ahhh the famous Loft Wool Pants!  See them on other petites in this Alterations Needed Forum post.  Kelly of Alterations Needed had a size 0P up for sale on the forum so I quickly nabbed them up.  I was a little worried that they wouldn't fit as LOFT bottoms tend to fit tight on me but I like the way they fit.  They DEFINITELY do not look like they do on many of the other petites LOL - I am definitely bigger than some of the other ladies that have these pants. They definitely fit tighter than I envisioned, but I love them all the same.

Loft Pants:  size 0P (buy here
Cardigan:  H&M XS
Top:  Mexx XS

I love the charcoal colour of these pants - they go with everything in my wardrobe ;)

You can definitely see they have a more fitted look on me and they are shorter on me as well.  I'm not sure I could roll the cuffs up anymore as they are quite tight around my calves. I can wear them tucked into boots too; they don't bunch up at all.

These pants came just on time!  I have NO dress pants right now - a few I have to get hemmed and a couple are in "repair" mode right now.  Luckily I can wear jeans to work everyday of the week but these pants are great as it's been too icky out to wear a skirt or dress.

As some of you may be aware anything wool makes me itch like crazy.  I was worried about these pants but I thought since they were lined most of the way I'd be ok.  Turns out I was wrong - I can feel the wool through the lining!!!! I am wearing leggings underneath so problem solved. Most days of the Fall and Winter I wear stockings or leggings under all my pants.  I am always cold so for me this is a necessity. The texture of these pants likely won't work in the Spring and Summer so I won't have to worry about the itchiness then.

Did anyone else grab these pants?

Blog Sale item and help needed!

I am so super behind on getting my posts up!   A while back Sydney had this dress up on her blog sale site and I quickly jumped at the opportunity!   LOFT is unfortunately not available in Canada so I get my LOFT fix from other petite bloggers!

I was so excited when I received the dress, it's much prettier in person than in the stock photo.

LOFT Sleeveless Tulle Neckline Dress - 00P

I love the length of this dress and can see it working well for work with tights and a blazer and for going out to maybe a baby shower or wedding shower. Unfortunately, the fit is not perfect for me.

It's too tight in the hips / butt area!!!

^ you can see how it bunches up and give me a "tail" ^

^ and it's dong that "s" thing at the front I learned about on Jean's post here ^

^see the bunching in the front?^

So ladies, I LOVE this dress and I got it at a FABULOUS price!  As I mentioned before, one of my New Year's Resolutions is to find a tailor.   I have a few in mind in my area, but I want to turn to all of you the experts on what alterations you think I need to have done in order for this to fit better.  Then I'll see what my potential tailor has to say!

I can't believe Christmas Eve is tomorrow!!  I unfortunately still have to work tomorrow but at least it's only half day.  I will be with my side of the family tomorrow evening then with my husband's family on Christmas.  Afterwards we are heading to Montreal for a couple days!!!   So I don't know how much time I will have to check in on everyone's blogs, but I will be working on my Secret Santa post!

For everyone that celebrates I wish you a very Merry Christmas and for everyone I hope you spend quality time with all your family and loved ones :)

OOTD: Subtle Accents

Does anyone else feel in a rut or is it just me?  I'm going to blame it on the weather.  The past few days in Toronto have been gloomy and cloudy and cold!  All I want to do is stay in my pj's all comfy and cozy in my bed.  But unfortunately I have to pay the bills and as casual as my work is I'm not sure pj's would cut it!

This is an example of an outfit I didn't really put much thought into.  Basic jeans, simple top.  To make it more professional I threw on my new favorite LOFT blazer.

Blazer:  LOFT size 0P (as seen here all dressed up)
Top:  Mexx XS
Jeans:  Aeropostale size 0 short
Bag:  Coach
Shoes:  Liz Claiborne size 7

oops!  Wasn't ready for the shot!

Without the blazer (boring!)

So because the entire outfit was VERY neutral I wanted to add a splash of colour with the bag (this is one of my favorites even though it's so big!)  and the shoes:

These shoes are my only other item in leopard print as I mentioned in this post.

So that was my attempt at some subtle accents when I wasn't feeling all that hot.  My hair was even doing some weird thing so up in a pony tail it went.  Speaking of hair for anyone that has bangs how do you get them to not split like mine do???  I assume I need to "train" them to stay in place?  The problem is my hair is curly so I don't always wear them down and have to blow dry them straight to look like that.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Oh and if you haven't done so already, please enter my first giveaway featuring Petit Plume.   And please (without sounding too desperate :P)  Tell your friends about it too! :)

A Wedding!

So I've been incredibly busy the past week as one of my closest friends got married this weekend YAY!  I thought I had taken a lot of photos of my outfit, but apparently I did not :P

So here are a couple photos from this weekend (showing my face in full this time...I would do it all the time if a professional makeup artist would come and make me over everyday LOL).

These are unfortunately the best pictures I have showing my dress!  It was a cheapie from Charlotte Russe which I picked up in the US last year.  The adjustable straps broke in the morning and I had to get the Maid of Honour sew them in place LOL!

Do you recognize the blazer above?  It's part of my Loft score!  It can also be seen on Really PetiteCallandra and Jean of Extra Petite.

And can I just tell you how much I LOVED the bride's dress?!?  Eeek!!  Makes me want to get married all over again!

Absolutely love the details of this dress!  She was STUNNING!!!

I also got a lot of compliments on my necklace which handmade by "On My Way by shellbrun".

She is a fellow Canadian that has just launched her business and makes GORGEOUS pieces! Check our her Etsy Shop.
 Here are some close ups:

I apologize for not commenting as much as I used to.  Work is actually really busy right now and that's where I usually quickly get my blog updates and comment ;)  I hope things will calm down soon and I can get back to reading everyone's shopping stories.

That's it from me for now!  I have a really busy week ahead of me which includes a cool networking event and shopping with a personal shopper!  I'll report back on both these experiences.
