Camera broken - but found some older photos!

I'm back!  Well, sort of - I was on vacation with my husband in sunny Jamaica!   We had a fabulous time and enjoyed much needed downtime.  But a week away from the blogging world and I feel like I've missed out on so much!   I apologize if I haven't been able to visit and comment on all your blogs but I pretty much just skimmed through as many as I could these past few days.

If you follow me on twitter you may know that while I was on vacation my camera broke!!   It was old and it's done a great job but finally it just gave up.  My dad has generously offered to loan me his camera in the meantime but I won't be able to pick it up until the weekend.

Luckily I had taken some pictures of purchases I had previously made.

I've been looking for a leather jacket for a while now but could never find one that I absolutely loved and at the right price.

I walked into Danier Leather and headed straight to the back of the store where I knew the good deals would be.   All the jackets were organized according to size which made it so easy for me to shop!

I ended up with not one but TWO leather jackets at great prices:

Danier Leather Motorcycle Jacket in Grey Suede size 2XS
$89.99!!!!

 ^sleeves cuffed up^

Danier Leather Blazer size 2XS
$99.99!!!!

AND the following weekend I passed by the store and they were having a 20% off everything in the store sale.  I mentioned to the manager that I just bought two jackets last week and she credited me back 20% of the value in gift cards!

I was super excited about these deals.  I haven't been shopping lately since we splurged on our vacation and the only items I've been buying are for gifts - mostly for all the kiddies in my life :)

To my American friends have a very Happy Thanksgiving Weekend and I will live vicariously through you and your black Friday shopping adventures.

Quick post - brunch wear

I haven't really been able to keep up with the outfit posts lately - been coming home late each evening and it's pitch black outside when I get home!   This is a  quick outfit from a previous weekend when I met a friend for brunch:

 Sweater:  Esprit (old!)
Jeans: Gap jean leggings 00 (find them here and here)
Scarf:  RW&Co

My friend asked me how I tied my scarf.  I told her I googled it LOL!   I found this site to be really useful and used the fake knot technique.

Any one have any other techniques for tying scarves?

I might be MIA for a bit, a lot of stuff going on but I hope no one will forget about me ;)

H&M Change Room - some familiar finds

I've been seeing all these fabulous items pop up on blogs from H&M so I had to go and check it out!

I've been on the search for some work dresses because I just find in general dresses are so much easier to wear!    I think if I had more getting ready in the morning would be much easier for me.

First was this red dress - only a size 4 was available but I really had to cover myself up due to being completely indecent!

Arm holes were a little big.  Size 2 may have fit better but I think the front would have still gapped.

This grey dress was also a size 4 (there weren't many size 2's in this particular store).  The attached belt was way too big and I liked the fit over all but it was still too big in some areas.

See how the bust and the back (hard to see) kind of gapes open?  And the butt kind of sticks out like I have a tail LOL - this happens to me a lot with some fitted dresses.  Anyone know why this is?  Perhaps a bit tight on the hips?

I remember seeing this next dress on Cher.  It looked so cute on her so I had to try it on.  Pretty sure this is also a size 4.

Loved the ruffle detail but this dress just wasn't for me.  It felt a bit short and it was too thin.  And it was definitely not work appropriate!

I failed with the dresses but I moved on to some other items.

This top I loved!   I think it was XS or size 2 - so sorry I can't remember!   But it was actually a bit tight for me in the bust.

LOVED the exposed zipper!  I didn't come home with it though...but I'm having second thoughts.

The next items will be familiar.   The skirt was seen on Cher and of course on Alterations Needed.

I'm wearing size 4 here and it fits me PERFECTLY!

I love, love, love this skirt.   As Kelly mentioned it is really nicely lined and I was surprised at how thick it was, not thin and cheap like most H&M finds.   This one I most definitely took home with me!

Next is this blouse as seen on Extra Petite.   She did a great review on this top and a couple of ways to style it.

I couldn't find this top while I was in the store but the cashier found it for me as I was paying.  I took home the size 2 and the size 4 to try on at home.  First is the size 2:

The size 2 fit well but I could feel it was a little snug in the bust and it sat at the widest part of my hips.

This is the size 4.  I felt more comfortable in this one so the size 2 went back.

Wow, sorry this post was so long!   I hadn't been to H&M for a while, so I guess I went a little crazy trying things on - but I only came home with 2 items.  The store is just so overwhelming and I can usually only make it there on the weekends when it's absolutely crazy there!

Anyone else find stuff from H&M lately that I can try and stalk for myself?  :P

Petite Fashion Challenge #4 is:   "Holiday Party"

Since the holidays are fast approaching I thought it would be fun to do a holiday themed challenge.   Although this might not be such a challenge to some of you I think we're probably all trying to figure out what to wear for either the office party, family party or night out on the town.

The challenge:
Create a holiday party look using festive colours and/or holiday pieces without looking like a greeting card.  This could be your opportunity to dust off that reindeer sweater you might have collecting dust in the back of your closet and turn it into something chic...hmmm?

How do you participate:

Sponge Bob Skinny Jeans!

LOL I'll explain the post title later.

As I mentioned I've been doing quite a bit on online shopping lately (my poor, poor credit cards eeek!)

Anyway, the other day I received notice of a 3 day sale for 50% one piece of outerwear from Old Navy and through some coupon forums such as Bargain Moose and Smart Canucks (LOL sooooo Canadian!) I found out that an online code, LOULOU15 from Canadian Magazine Lou Lou for 15% was stackable.  I hurried myself over to the website and found that the ruffle wool jackets were on sale for $29!!  I was able to use both codes and got the coat for $12.33!!!!!!    So that's the good news.  The BAD news is that a couple hours later when my friend wanted to buy a coat the price was back up to the full price of $99.50.  NOT COOL.   But I guess I scored a good deal.

Here is the coat (and you'll get the title of my blog post)

Coat:  Old Navy Ruffle-Collar Wool Blend Jacket in XS (buy here or here)
Available in Petite on the US site in limited colours

When I came down to show my husband he exclaimed "hey there sponge bob" LOL!  and I told my friend O who added the line "skinny jeans" :P

I know it's super bright, but I like it!!   Do you think I could pull it off?   I was thinking of exchanging it  for this colour.  Or maybe just returning it all together.  But I figured for $12.33 I couldn't pass up getting a fun coloured jacket :) What are your thoughts?

I ordered a few other items as well to fulfill the requirement for free shipping over $50.

Old Navy Waffle-Knit Scoop Neck Tee (find it here - can't seem to find it on the US site)

I LOVE this shirt!   It is seriously so comfortable and I think I could wear this with just about anything.  I love the fit too I don't mind that the sleeves are a bit long - it adds to the coziness I feel in it :)   And it might be a little long for some other petite but I like the length.  I got this top for $10.20 after the Lou Lou discount.

I also picked up this cute little vest:

Linen-blend Open Front Vest in XS (find it here - out of stock on the US site!)

I just love the back it's so cute!  I picked this up for $12.74 after the discount.

Lastly, I got this skirt which I'm very unsure about:

Cord mini size 0 - on the US site here sold on the Canadian site but similar here

It really is quite short so I can see why there isn't a petite length available LOL!  I'm a taller petite though, for reference about 5'1" and 3/4".

I think it's really cute, but I'm not sure how much wear I would get out of it.  Suggestions would be helpful!

Phew!!!  That was a crazy haul!  All in all, pretty happy with the sizing from Old Navy MUCH better fit than seen in my last review featuring Banana Republic items.
