Velvet in the Spring Time!

Yes it's Spring! It's starting to feel like it but with Spring comes rain unfortunately.  But it's ok, I do see it arriving very soon!

I purchased this velvet blazer from the lovely Annie of Really Petite you can actually see her wearing it in this post.  Luckily for me she picked up an extra one and I was able to buy it from her. Thanks Annie!!

I know it's Spring, but I feel a little bit of fabulous when I wear this blazer so I decided to go for it anyway.

Of course, a close up of my Avon jewellery ;)
I love this necklace.  There are so many colours in it, it can be worn with so many things.  Strangers have actually stopped me to ask about it!

New items from PAG's blog sale

I think I now LIVE for blog sales LOL!  They're so great because A) I have access to items that are not available in Canada especially petite sizes;  B) I am almost guaranteed a great fit since seeing it on my fellow petite bloggers gives me a really good idea on how it will fit me; C) I can just buy something by emailing someone and tapping on my keyboard LOL!

Here are my latest items purchased from Jean aka Petite Asian Girl of Extra Petite from her blog sale:

First up - Banana Republic Navy Chain Shift Dress in 00P:

Jean was sooo incredibly sweet to offer this top to me through a private sale as she's sick of well aware of my complaints about not being able to get  my hands on Loft items ;)

Loft Top side View

I LOVE this top so much! I don't have anything like it and I love the way it fits.

Thank again Jean - it's truly, truly appreciated :)  The blogging community and the petite blogging community in particular have been just AMAZING! I know we are essentially all strangers but I honestly feel so connected with all the ladies I've met through blogging and through twitter.  If you don't have a blog connect with me and the other ladies on twitter or on the Alterations Needed Forum.  Never have I felt such openness from an online community before - it's such a warm and fuzzy feeling! :)

Taking off the Layers

I'm all about layering, layering, layering. It's definitely a necessity right now. I rushed home yesterday and jumped right into bed watching old movies with the husband ;) - it was supposed to be -19°C and -28°C with the wind chill! I drive to work and have my heated seats to keep me warm -  I don't even know how you ladies that commute in weather like this manage to stay warm AND stylish at the same time!

Here's a typical "layering" outfit and me removing the layers LOL (Don't worry, it's PG)

Lady Like Cardigan

I tried this sweater on MONTHS ago at H&M but I had already made a few purchases at that time so I left it behind in the stores.  Then later I saw this on Ping and it definitely stuck out in my mind.  I love how Ping styled it.  I'm not as creative as she is so I just threw it on with my favorite trouser jeans.

Cardigan:  H&M XS
Jeans:  Banana Republic size 0P (I found a similar pair here)
Necklace and Earrings:  Avon

I love the feminine details of this cardigan.  The little bows at the pocket area (no pockets!) and the buttons are really pretty too (kins of sparkly!).

For some reason I've also been fascinated with braiding my hair.   My bangs are starting to grow out so they're at that awkward length where they kind of just get in my way.  I decided to try out the braiding thing:

What do you think?  Is it too juvenile?  I got some compliments (from those that noticed) and it definitely does the job of keeping my bangs out of my face.

So, I'm noticing that all my poses are pretty much the same :P  Taking pictures is a lot of work for me and definitely does not come naturally!  I feel really silly posing a lot of the time so does anyone have any tips on posing?

My new favorite Cardigan and an award!

I'm glad a lot of you enjoyed my Seven Confessions post.  It was fun to read all your comments and how much I have in common with some of you :P.   I was thinking about confession #5:

5. I get obsessed with songs.  I'm the type of person that can listen to a song over and over and over again.  I will look up the lyrics to the song of the moment so I can sing to the the song on repeat.  This is obviously one of the reasons why my husband love me :P

And I realized that I not only obsess with songs, but with articles of clothing too!   When I buy something new and absolutely LOVE it, it becomes part of my "uniform" and I wear it every chance I get!!!!   My current go to uniform consists of my Gap mustard cardigan reviewed here.

Here's my most recent outfit with this item:
Top:  Jacob XS
Cardigan:  Gap XS
Jeans:  Banana Republic 0P
Necklace:  mark by Avon

And...I undeservedly received the "Stylish Blogger Award" from one of the sweetest ladies I've "met" in the blogging community - Marilou of Twenty York Street!  When I think of chic and stylish I automatically think of her!   She is so personable not to mention photogenic!   The definition of class.   She's always so sweet, she'll sometimes drop me an email just to say 'hi'! :)

So thank you Marilou from the bottom of my heart!  I don't feel I have earned this, but I will try to live up to it LOL!

It was so hard choosing who to pass this award onto - so many stylish bloggers out there!   So, I decided to pick three that currently stand out to me for not only being stylish, but because I admire them as well.

Kiki of Psyched for Style - not only is she stylish she's damn talented too!  Just look at how she decorated her little one's room.

Sew Petite Girl - now here is INCREDIBLE talent!  Just check out this DIY Pearl Necklace!

Jessy of The Little Dust Princess - my fellow petite Torontonian :P  whenever I have a blogging/twitter panic attack Jess is always there to rescue me LOL!  Here's an example of some advice she gives about blogging.

Gap review Part 2 - plus Banana Republic

Remember this review that I started a while ago?  Well my camera had died and I didn't finish my review.   Turns out I only had one item left to show LOL!  So I decided to include some items I ordered online through Banana Republic.

I picked up this mustard coloured cardigan that I LOVE but....(keep reading to see the 'but') :P

Long Cardigan:  Gap XS (I can't seem to find it online on either the Canadian or the US sites!)

So the "BUT" is that it's 100% Merino Wool and normally anything that has even 5% wool in it drive me crazy with itchiness!  For some reason this cardi is actually super soft!!  I did notice that when I tried it on another time it was a bit warmer and I felt a bit itchy, but not so much so that I wanted to tear my skin off.  So, even though it could potentially cause me some discomfort, I love the colour so much I'll just be sure to wear a shirt with sleeves under it.  (the things we do for fashion!)

Next up is a package of stuff I got from Banana Republic.

Both were fails as there were no petite sizing offered online, but I got lucky with some Gap and Old Navy stuff in XS I thought I would give it a try.

Top:  Banana Republic Silk Geo Print Top in XS (sold on on the Canadian site)

As you can see it's pretty much a tent on me!!!

Even a belt didn't help it out.

Too bad, because I really loved the details of this top:

The arm holes were WAY too big (you can see my bra, a BIG NO NO!)

I don't know what I was thinking but I also ordered a pair of non petite pants:

They are obviously way to big on me.  But surprisingly the waist seemed to stay up ok:

Way too baggy all over.

I also have another package from BR that came in today - it originally got lost (or someone stole it).  I have to say that the customer service was really great and helpful!   Based on my BR items above I don't have high hopes for what I ordered, but I guess you never know!
