More Gap Jeans - but this time they are winners!

I decided to give the Gap jeans another try (see my first review here) since I loved the feel of them.  Plus is was the Gap Give and Get days this weekend.  What luck!  Different sizes were available and they FIT!

First up, the always skinny CROPPED jeans.  For some reason they are not on the Canadian site but you can see them here.

Gap Always Skinny Cropped Jeans size 00 (vintage tint - faded wash)

The back on these fit much better than the pair I tried on last time.  I think the different washes also give different fits.

Details of the buttons at the bottom of the jeans:

I like that I can just flip them up really easily too.

Next the jean leggings - last time they didn't have size 00 in store, but this time it was my lucky day:

Gap Jean Leggings size 00 (dark vintage - faded dark wash)

The fit is MUCH better with the 00 size.

The 00's weren't available in the faded black wash so I ordered them online along with the slim crop pants which were reviewed by PAG here and by PetiteXXS here.  I'm worried they will be TOO tight on me since they are slightly big on these ladies, but I guess we'll see when they arrive.  My other purpose for ordering online was to assess how Gap's new shipping to Canada works out.  I will keep you all posted!

I won a contest!!!

I was soooo super excited to receive an email from Lisamarie at Beauty Crazed in Canada informing me that I won a contest that was held on her blog.  The contest in was for a set of Quo brushes - Quo is a Canadian beauty line exclusive to Shopper's Drug Mart which is a staple for Canadian beauty junkies.

Here are pictures of what I received in the mail:

LOVE the coloured brushes!  They are so soft and seem to be really good quality (I ran my fingers through each of the brushes several times and none of the hairs came out!).  Can't wait to use these.

Thanks again Lisamarie and Beauty Crazed in Canada for hosting the contest!

OOTD: orange and brown

I used to HATE orange and brown together.  I think it's because these were my elementary school colours and they were NOT put together well.  But the past few years this colour combination has grown on me.  It's much better than orange and black as that always makes me think of Halloween.

For this outfit I paired the skirt worn here with a simple orange t-shirt.

Shirt:  Jacob Connexion size XS
Skirt:  Suzy Shier size 0
Necklace and sandals:  Avon

What do you think of this look versus the last?  I think I feel more comfortable in this one.  It's very easy to wear and I don't have to do too much to make it stand out since the colour pops on its own.

Petite Fashion Challenge #1: Petite Don't - Wide Legged Jeans

This post is my first wardrobe challenge - petite challenge that is!  Jean of Extra Petite had a challenge for us petite bloggers.

The challenge was:

Create an outfit for weekend brunch with your girlfriends. The outfit must include one garment that is typically notorious for being a petite "don't."

I have to admit I JUMPED right away into accepting this challenge....then as the days ticked away I actually got more nervous!  I'm SURE I have MANY petite "don'ts" in my wardrobe and I'm SURE I have not succeeded at making many of these Don'ts into Dos.

The most prominent petite don't item I own are my wide legged jeans:

Jeans:   Parasuco size 25

Ok, these jeans are really wide legged.  The bottoms measure 11 inches:

I also got these hemmed quite a bit so they were even wider to begin with.

It's believed that petites shouldn't wear wide legged pants since these types of pants tend to overwhelm a small frame and make the legs appear shorter.  To counteract the wideness of the pants I thought to pair it with a fitted top.  I also made sure to wear my highest heel to make sure my legs didn't disappear or look short.
Also, these jeans make me think of a great men's wear inspired look so I decided to carry that theme through with a vest.  Here is the look I came up with:

Vest:  Mexx XS
Halter:  H&M size 4
Shoes: Aldo size 7

To ensure the men's wear look was still feminine, I made sure to wear a really girly lacy top underneath and finished the outfit with a pink bag.

Close up of the shoes:

I'm relieved this challenge is done LOL!  I think I would totally wear this out to a brunch with the girls maybe a little dressier type of brunch.

These jeans may be a petite don't but I love them all the same!

OOT Weekend - Rainy Toronto Day

It's still quite hot and humid in Toronto but this weekend the rain just wouldn't stop!  I started the day out in this same outfit minus the blazer and I had sandals on.  I don't know about you but I HATE wet feet!!!!  It's so uncomfortable!  I know it's still summer, but I decided to break out my boots.  They aren't heavily lined so I wasn't too worried about being too hot.  We were just going to be out for dinner and then seeing a movie, but it required us walking quite a bit so I wanted to be comfortable.

Blazer:  Suzy Shier size 3
Tanks:  unknown (old!)
Jeans:  Esprit
Boots:  no name (cheap!)
Necklaces:  mark by Avon

I really love my the necklaces so here are a few close up shots:

So here's a question - is this a "young" outfit?  When I say young, I mean TWEEN young.  Why am I asking?  Because when I was at the restaurant I was asked by the server if I was also going to the Justin Bieber concert!!! ?????

Do I REALLY look THAT young?

OOTD: Typical Casual Friday outfit

I know it's Sunday, but I'm always behind on my posts anyway :P  This is an outfit that I might wear any day of the week at my work place but most of you may not be able to wear except maybe on casual Fridays.

Jeans:  Guido and Mary size 25 (made in Canada!)
Top:  Smart Set XS
Belt:  Danier

Wow, I think my whole outfit is from Canadian retailers!

Close up of the pretty sleeve details:

Would most of you be able to wear this outfit to work?  I'm pretty sure my office environment is really casual compared to most places.

Change room review: Gap Jeans

What's the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?  For me it's usually hit the snooze button a million times then finally roll out of bed and drag my sleepy-eyed self to the bathroom.  But THIS morning I for some reason decided to check my email on my phone and I saw that I was sent an offer from the Gap through Groupon to buy a $50 gift card for $25!!

So instead of my usual morning routine I fired up my computer and promptly bought my coupon.  Thank goodness I did because only a few hours later apparently the Groupon site crashed!  It was totally worth me being late to work this morning :P

I had really, really had my eye on these legging jeans after seeing them on Chloe here.

Unfortunately Gap does not offer petite sizes in Canada, but I thought I would go in and check out the jeans anyway.

Let me just say first off that that Gap denim is soooo super comfortable.  So soft and stretchy I loved them!  But unfortunately fit was another story. (Please excuse the pics - change rooms have such horrible lighting)

Legging Jeans in size 26/2:

I was pretty happy with the fit besides the length as you can kind of see here:

Not really sure how much "bunchiness" is acceptable - but when I turned around I saw this nighmare:

See the bumpiness and sagging?

Not flattering at all!

So I tried a size down 25/0:

But the same thing occurred at the back:

(it's REALLY hard to take a picture of your butt....I was twisting in all sorts of strange ways!)

The back side is saggy and I look flat.  And there is too much material between the waistband and the top of the butt area.

I decided to try on a different style - always skinny jeans in size 0

But the extra material was still there.

So on to a 00:

The butt fit a bit better, but I think they were a bit too tight at the waist and I still didn't think the butt was flattering.

Overall I was disappointed :(  I really wanted to score a pair of skinny jeans as all I have are boot cut and trouser cut.   I may go back and try some other styles on or try out the kids section.

I assume the rise on the petites version of these jeans would fit better.  Have any of my American friends had any luck?

OOTD: adding colour to a boring outfit

As I've mentioned before I'm still learning how to "spice" up an outfit with colour.  I have this boring brown linen/cotton mix dress that I got from H&M a long time ago.  I wear it because it's one of those "throw on and go" pieces of clothing that I don't have to think about too much.  Here is how I would normally wear it:

Belt:  unknown from Winners

Pretty boring right?  Although it's a really easy outfit I always feel so "blah" wearing it.
But it's already in my closet and it fits - I'm determined to make it work - so here is how I wore it the other day:

Dress:  H&M size 4
Earrings and Scarf:  Avon

I tried to spice it up a little with the scarf as a belt and the bold earrings.
I feel OK experimenting since most people at my work don't pay much attention to clothes and such.

So....does it work?  or is it a fail?
